I can pretty much guarantee that if you read through the owners manual of your car you will see that your oil doesn't need to be changed every 3,000 miles like all those oil change places tell you. In the event you examined your manual, you will know that your oil should be changed every 6000 to 7000 miles. So in essence, a lot of these quick oil change places are generally lying to you.

If you study the owner's manual, you will also see when you should get the air filters changed. Regarding my car it is suggested to change my air filter every 2 years or when it is stopped up. In my situation, the air filter continued to looked pretty good after four years but I opted to change it anyway just in case. But, anytime I would head over to these quick oil change places, they would tell me I would need a new air filter. There seemed to be a very light discoloration and I was informed that it was at the first stages of clogging. But, I told them that I swapped out the filter just six months ago and their answer was that I would need to change it in another six months.

What's intriguing is that they initially told me that the filtration system needed to be changed. Then their story changed when I said that it wasn't that old. This just demonstrates how dishonest and evil these people are.

Another time, one of these stores swapped out my transmission fluid. I know they tell you it must be changed each time you go in there. Once, when they explained to me, I allowed them to do it. Three months later on, when I went back to get an oil change, they tried to tell me the transmission fluid was dirty and needed to be changed again. From then on, I never went to them again.

We've since located an honest mechanic and I don't bring my cars elsewhere anymore. Surprisingly, many of these individuals who work at the quick oil change places have never had any training in fixing cars. Nonetheless a mechanic who happens to be certified is more than capable to help maintain your car.
