Classification of Brake Pads

One of the pioneers of the motorcycle brake pad market is the EBC Group. This company that was founded in 1978 later moved on to produce brake pads for cars, trucks and other four-wheeled vehicles. Currently, EBC offers brake pads for a wide range of SUVs, trucks, commercial vehicles and even mountain bikes. But not only that as EBC has not limited itself into making brake pads for vehicles, EBC is one of the only manufacturers of brake pads for wind powered generators. The stopping force needed to stop the huge generator blades is enormous, and therefore EBC certainly took on this big challenge.

As one of the leaders in the brake pad industry, EBC's pad range is not just limited to typical vehicle application. The company also manufactures ebc rotors and an equally impressive range of friction inducing materials for racetrack driving. These are classified into four, namely the Green stuff, Blue stuff, red, and yellow stuff.

The Green Stuff brake pad is recommended for spirited street use and for drivers who like to get from a place to another a little faster. The EBC Red Stuff pad is for the budding enthusiast who wants an aggressive brake pad for the street driving with very light track use. There is also the Yellow stuff, which is for people who need a brake pad that they can use on the trip to and from the track and want to put their brakes through the paces.

The yellow stuff brake pad is made with racing materials and is capable of high temperature use with very good wear life. The bite from cold is great which is uncommon with race materials that normally require warm-up. This makes the pad great and safe for use on the highway as well as on the racetrack.

Lastly, there is the Blue stuff brake pad for serious racetrack only driving.

The EBC rotors are also some of the industry's best and most sought after. An example is the Ultimax Black Dash Slotted Rotor, which is has a black coating that protects the non friction surfaces from corrosion and the slots help to keep the friction surface of the pads clean and level. Another notable product from EBC is the 3GD Slotted and Dimpled Rotor. This is designed with slots and dimples that keep the friction surface clear. However, in the event of pad fade, the dimples will further help dissipate excess gas.
